Rome, Italy

We arrived in Rome on Tuesday morning!

Our room in the city center wasn’t quite ready, so we dropped our bags and went exploring. We didn’t get much sleep overnight on the flight, so finding a cafe within steps was welcoming!

We enjoyed espresso, pastries, cookies and cake!

Pantheon

It was incredibly hot in Rome on Tuesday and this Aperol spritz hit the spot...so refreshing!

Pizza...

A traveler we met from Australia (who took a guided food tour in Rome) explained that locals will always ask the waiter how long the pizza dough has risen and they would never eat dough that hasn’t had at least 48 hours to rest. Pizza dough that has risen for days is light and airy and will not make you feel full and uncomfortable. An old adage is that freshly made dough will rise in your stomach!

We haven’t had a bad slice yet!

Spanish Steps...

We were leaving early Wednesday morning for a flight to Split, Croatia so we were pressed for time recreating this iconic Maxwell shot.
