Our last four nights in Thailand were spent at the Cape Kudu Hotel which is located on the island of Koh Yao Noi. We took a short flight from Chiang Rai to Phuket and ferried from Phuket to the island. The weather was a lot warmer!
Awesome convertible vintage Porsche at the hotel!
The views from the hotel were spectacular!
And the sunrises even better...
On the way to Phuket, Rosalie was feeling like she was battling something similar to Hillary’s stomach troubles. By the time we checked into the hotel, she was vomiting and had a fever. It just got worse from there. She was up the entire first night with diarrhea and vomiting. When Jason went to the desk in the morning to inquire about a pharmacy, the hotel suggested calling Thai EMTs fearing she was completely dehydrated.
A dr and two nurses came to our hotel room and treated her for a bacterial infection. They decided to hook her up to an IV to give her fluids and medicine. We also treated Hillary for her bacterial infection. The dr attributed it to something they most likely ate, telling us that Thailand is riddled with bacteria for travelers.
Rare moment when she’s smiling...the four nights spent on Koh Yao Noi were not easy!
The next morning, Natalie started vomiting so we took a trip to the nearby pharmacy. The girls were so sick and very much looking forward to this leg of the trip, so we were all pretty bummed out. We spent the majority of the four nights in our hotel room.
The second to last night we had reservations at The Six Senses Restaurant on the island. The girls decided they’d like to try to get out so we all rallied.
We sampled local Thai wine!
Rose quickly excused herself from the table and spent the night at a nearby chaise to color and chat with the staff. They all knew her by name by the end of the night and were entertaining her!
The next morning we planned to visit a handful of the 44 archipelago islands in the Phang Nga Bay. We reserved a boat with a bathroom and an awning and were off for a morning to explore.
Jason and Mallory snorkeled on Long Beach for a bit...
Rose felt well enough to hop off and take a dip at one point...
Although the end of our trip did not go as planned, we tried to make the best of it. Koh Yao Noi is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen...truly magical! Cape Kudu Hotel was amazing and so hospitable.
Most of all, we’ll miss these beautiful Thai sunrises.
Outstanding!
