Doolin, Cliffs of Moher, Athlone & Dublin, Ireland

The last two nights in Ireland were left without hotel reservations. We left it open ended in case there was something we wanted to see last minute. While heading out of Leenane we decided to make reservations to stay in the town of Doolin, County Clare. Doolin is known for their live Irish music. All of the best musicians in Ireland go there to play.
We drove through Galway city and grabbed a quick lunch. Galway city wasn't very nice.
Driving through Corkscrew Hill we had an amazing view of The Burren.
Finally in Doolin, we stopped in McGann's Pub (they have another location in Boston, MA!) but the kids didn't want to stay for the live music. We walked around the center a bit before heading back to our hotel.
Saturday morning was our last official day of sight seeing as we'd spend the whole day Sunday traveling home. We decided to take a boat cruise to the Cliffs of Moher then drive towards Dublin, where the airport was.
Posing in front of the Ballinalacken Castle. We stayed in the hotel directly next to it the night before.
The view from the Ballinalacken Castle.
The Cliffs of Moher cruise was an hour long and ran right out of Doolin Pier. It was all smiles to start but quickly took a turn!
Rosalie's third lambie. We think she left Katie Erin Holly at Vin's farm and she cried all the way to Doolin. Hopefully third times the charm.
When the boat left the pier it was immediately swaying from side to side. The kids were laughing and sliding all over the cabin. I turned to Jay and asked, first if this was normal and second, why I was the only one with a concerned look on my face. The water was extremely choppy! Jay tried to take as many photos as he could but he fell flat on his back. As the boat crashed from side to side people around us started to look concerned - then sick. Everyone started vomiting around us into sick bags! I was sick to my stomach but was willing myself not to get sick. Then Jay got sick...and Mallory...and Rosalie's belly hurt. It was a nightmare. We spent almost the entire hour sick and praying to get back on solid ground to try to calm our stomachs. Getting off the boat, the next group to board all had smiling faces...they didn't know what they were in for. Mallory threw up in the car and it took all day for my stomach to feel right. Next time we'll take my Dad's suggestion and stick to the view from the cliffs above.
Thank God for sick bags.
The infamous boat. On the plus side, when we got off we caught a glimpse of dolphins in the water.
Boston, Ireland!
Another castle...there's no shortage of them here!
On the way to Dublin we stopped in Athlone, Ireland.
I don't really know what this statue was about but Rosie insisted on a picture.
We checked out the Athlone Castle.

While driving to Dublin we booked a room at the Clontarf Castle Hotel. It was a beautiful hotel!
On our way to dinner the big girls took the next elevator. When the doors opened out came the three girls and behind them, a guy about 8 feet tall on stilts. The girls seemed unfazed. There was a big party being held in the hotel that night.
A blurry view of the Castle on our way back in after dinner.

We had an early wake up call the following morning to head back to the states. We had an amazing trip but we were all looking forward to getting home!
