Still in Dublin

We arrived at the airport on time today. After getting our boarding passes and checking our bags, we went through the scanning process of our carry on bags. Rosalie was the unlucky "random" passenger that got chosen to be patted down. She was not happy. We waited forever in the line at customs and then for whatever reason (never ever seen this before) we once again went through the process of scanning our bags and taking off our shoes and jackets. By the time we reached our gate we should have had about 30 minutes before boarding but the display was showing our flight was delayed by about an hour.
After about 10 minutes the display changed to "more info to come". That never sounds good. Then the dreaded announcement...flight cancelled. There was a mad rush to the gate desk. Everyone was freaking out. Then the announcement...go to baggage claim and reclaim your bags BUT if you bought anything duty free, it needs to be returned. We didn't buy anything in the airport but are you kidding me? Natalie immediately started to cry. She was set on going home.
We got our bags and made our way to the ticket booth to figure out what to do next. There were about 100 people in line in front of us and 100 behind us. People were going crazy. The line stood still. We were hearing from US Airway workers that it could be as late as Tuesday to get out on that flight...other flights leaving sooner were already booking up. Jay had the bright idea to check the display, jump out of line and run over to Aer Lingus and try to reroute with them while on the phone with US Airways customer service confirming this. We got on a flight! Fingers crossed we'll fly out tomorrow morning at the same time. People in line around us weren't so lucky. Some were being booked for Tuesday or Wednesday.
US Airways put us up in a hotel near the airport and shuttled us there. They covered lunch, dinner and breakfast tomorrow and the shuttle back to the airport. Everyone here is from the cancelled flight and also a flight to Charlotte that was cancelled after ours.
We spent hours and hours in the airport!
not happy

At the hotel...she decided to make the best of it.

It's back to the airport bright and early tomorrow to go through the entire check in and customs process again...groundhogs day. Hopefully our flight departs...we are pretty much out of clean clothes!
