Westport & Leenane, Ireland

Thursday morning we took the scenic route to the town of Westport.

The only acceptable place to play their tin flutes...outside of the car! Who's idea was that anyway?

Once in Westport, the girls and I decided to try Garra Rufa fish pedicures. Garra Ruffa fish are called "doctor fish" because they treat dry skin, eczema and poor circulation. You put your feet in the tank and the fish suction onto them. The girls were uneasy at first but quickly got used to the sensation. We all loved it and our feet were so soft. Rosalie was too young, so she got a regular pedicure.

Mallory had a hard time sitting still.

She ended up loving it!

Later in the afternoon we got a chance to visit the family farm where Jay's great-grandfather grew up, Ashmount. The farm is now operated by cousin Vin. He farms hundreds of sheep, cattle and a few ducks. His land goes as far as the eye can see, and across the road! It was beautiful and so serene.

The sweetest dog, Prince, herds the sheep daily.

This is the site of the second home on the property. The thatched room caved in and the new house was built in the '70s.

This barn sits on the spot where the original Ashmount house sat and housed 14 children.

That black speck at the top is Jason. Dominic decided to head back down when he got about halfway up.

Rose and Teddy...partners in crime. They were running all around the farm together and loved chasing the cats.

Of course Rosalie found the cat again!

Vin was such a great host! I hope someday we get a chance to visit the farm again.
