When we were through in Arles, it stopped raining! We decided to head back through Les Baux so we could see the village.
A short walk uphill brings you to the grounds of the ruined castle. The guidebooks say that traces of habitation date as far back as 6000 BC!
The views were spectacular!
Daily demonstrations of catapult shootings go on throughout the day. Jason was chosen as one of the "strong men" to help spin the wheels...
...but he was quickly dismissed because he may be an American spy! Haha!
We got back into Avignon and found a small restaurant right around the corner from where we're staying, Mamma Corsica. There was one employee working the front and he didn't speak any English. The menu was also in French so we tried to google a few words. We decided that we'd order a few dishes and see what we got. This was easily the best meal we've had in France! We ate family style and shared bites of everything.
The meal was tres bon!
| We will explore a little more of Southern France and then hop on a flight to Italy! Just when everyone is familiar with a handful of French words and phrases, we need to switch gears and brush up on our Italian! |
