Before heading out of Paris this morning we browsed the many boulangeries (bakeries). We stopped for espresso and chocolate croissants but really, everything looked tasty.

A two hour drive brought us to Noyers-sur-Surein, a medieval village on the Surein river.
We had one minor hiccup on the way into Noyers. We hadn't changed our cash into euros and hit a toll on the highway. The tolls accept credit cards but not American cards and the woman at the toll only spoke French. We held up a line of cars behind us until a Belgium man got out of his car and offered to pay our 11 euro toll in exchange for $20 US dollars. Travel tip...always exchange money when you first arrive!
Unfortunately, it began raining when we got into Noyers.
We stopped for lunch at Maison Paillot. The restaurant was gorgeous inside!

Mallory was such a trooper at lunch. The menu was in French so the waiter suggested he'd bring out local dishes we'd like. His dad owned the restaurant and was the local butcher. We each got a pretty large meat plate as a starter and we had no idea what any of it was. Mallory really rallied the girls (and even me) to try everything. She was so funny...suggesting they spread pate on bread. I was so proud of her. She tried and ate almost all of it.

After lunch we checked into our house for the night.

We hopped in the car to check out the nearby town of Chablis. There are lots of wineries in the area. We stopped at Domaine Vocoret & Fils Winery for a tasting. The winery has been in the family for four generations!
"Home" to rest and then back into the streets to explore more. We have an early morning departure tomorrow. We'll be driving the longest leg of our trip towards Southern France.
