Dinkelsbuhl & Rothenburg, Germany

On Saturday morning we drove to Dinkelsbuhl, Germany for a quick visit on our way to Rothenburg.

We got some much needed hair accessories in Munich. What little we brought seemed to disappear. Rosalie decided her bangs need to grow out and they are so much better out of her eyes!

For about an hour the girls were acting like maniacs in the car. It's better than fighting and whining I suppose!

We decided to take a horse and carriage ride tour through Dinkelsbuhl. The tour guide spoke in German but we had an English guide book. It was nice seeing some sights we may not have caught on foot.

This couple owned this restaurant and the husband stood outside winding the German music through this speaker. We saw him three times and he was always standing there, winding the music.

Dinkelsbuhl is a walled city with multiple towers surrounding it. Much like other towns we've visited, the history was very interesting.

Saturday afternoon we arrived in Rothenburg to spend the night. Our hotel was above a restaurant and was so quaint. I really loved the look of it.

Daddy went to park the car and brought back Schneeballs, a Rothenburg dessert.

The story of Christmas is popular in the shops and museums here. This one shop had the cutest Christmas displays.

Schneeballs! It's similar to the outside crust of a cannoli and you break off pieces. I told Natalie we finally found her cannoli! They had every flavor you could imagine.

We had dinner in the restaurant in our hotel.

Mallory insisted her Barbies dance by candlelight at their prom.

Bread dumplings in a mushroom cream sauce. This was excellent!

Steak with herb butter and roasted potatoes. Our meal was really good.

After dinner we went to a guided tour by a "watchman" with his lantern. It was so neat and the history of Rothenburg is really cool. It was raining a bit throughout the tour but the kids didn't mind.

We loved Rothenburg and regret not having more time there. There was so much we didn't get a chance to see.
