Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

Yesterday we spent the day exploring more of Cesky Krumlov. From start to finish this was a particularly eerie day.

Unfortunately the rain did not hold off and it was pouring until about 4 pm. The thunder and lightning was pretty severe.

We took shelter in a small restaurant along the river to come up with a game plan for the day.

This is "mud" coffee. It's different from American coffee in that it's unfiltered. With each sip you're drinking the coffee grounds.

We had to try the potato pancakes. My mom made these for us as kids! They came with a side of what tasted like coleslaw but was completely dry. It was really tasty.

The locals said this weather is very rare and they've had great summer weather until now.

They also mentioned that it was 15 years to the day of a major flood in Cesky Krumlov, so that was a little creepy.

The girls wanted to do another escape room...surprise, surprise. We're going to become expert investigators and detectives by the end of our journey.

These games are all over Europe! In fact, the owners here told us that there is an outdoor escape room in Prague and we already have plans to go.

The theme of this room was Czechoslovakia's (when Czech Republic and Slovakia were joined as one country) communist police force.

We were a little hesitant to begin the game. It took place in the basement of a very old building. To add to the drama, the first clue was to figure out how to turn on the light! We were locked in the pitch black room with only a flashlight. Natalie came to the rescue and figured it out.

We finished this room (with a few clues) in 63 minutes. There was no one scheduled after us so he let us finish, as we were so close. Rose and Mallory really came through on the last clue. These kids are so smart!

Our next creepy adventure was the Museum of Tortury. Rosalie was petrified. I mean this is the stuff of nightmares.

I ended up walking her through quickly and Jay took the older girls through one more time.

The twins seemed to enjoy it!

The ticket also included a visit to a wax museum.

She's too much!

After a little siesta, we walked to the coolest dinner spot. It was originally a sixteenth century jail and is said to be haunted!

We sat outdoors as the rain had finally subsided but indoors you could watch the spit.

We finished this morbid day with a walking ghost tour. This is our guide John. He told us stories about the undead, ghosts and vampires.

There were people representing many different countries along for the ghost tour...Taiwan, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Germany and the US!

It was a great tour. We learned things about Cesky Krumlov that only someone born and raised here could have shared with us.

By the days end, Rosalie was frazzled and decided she was not going to sleep unless it was between me and Jay!

We're aboard a bus now and they have free wifi, tons of movies to choose from on your own personal screen and beverages. Everyone is quiet as can be!

We are heading to Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic!
