Yesterday we crossed the border into Austria to visit Lake Wörthersee. We heard the water is turquoise and it is even brighter than we had imagined. It looked like the Caribbean.
Absolutely beautiful!
There was a diving board and Daddy, Mallory and Rosalie all jumped in!
After swimming for a bit, we drove to the Austrian city of Villach.
We stopped for lunch at a traditional German restaurant.
For me, this was one of the most memorable meals of our trip. I will dream about this food...it was so amazing!
Wiener Schnitzel, pork dumplings and bacon sauerkraut...my German roots were very happy!
After some window shopping and espresso in Villach, we loaded the car to cross over another border...back to Italia!
We visited Lago del Predil.
The view, the sun and the super refreshing water was the perfect combination. Had we had more time, we would have spent most of our day here.

Across the street from the lake was a bunker that was built in the late 1800s. It was damaged in World War I but you can still walk around and take pictures.
We pressed on for a reservation we had in Slovenia.
Downtown Bovec...
We enjoyed ourselves so much at the escape room in Bled, that we booked another room in Bovec.
This theme was set in a prison and we finished the room (with a few prompts) with 8 minutes to spare.
I fear for Rosalie's gelato withdrawal when we get back to the States. It's no longer "can we stop for gelato?" but "when are we stopping for gelato?"
On our way back to the house we were hoping to stop and swim in Slovenia. The goal was to swim in three different countries in one day.
We failed!
The GPS took us on the most white knuckling, nail biting route ever. If you're not on a highway in Slovenia, you're driving through the mountains and most of these roads have no barriers. Add in the fact that it took two hours and turned dark while we were driving and my anxiety was through the roof.
We made it home but I think we were all mentally exhausted. It really put a damper on the day.
This morning we packed our bags for Czech Republic!
We typically don't spend many consecutive nights in one location, so packing up after four nights felt like leaving home.
But no worries...we're off to check out Czech!
