Antelope Island State Park - Syracuse, UT

Wednesday morning we woke up and ate breakfast at Ruth's Diner.  They are famous for their mile-high biscuits and they were even on Diners, Drive ins and Dives.  The food was great.  I would have liked to have eaten outside (the restaurant is right on the side of a canyon) but the kids wanted to sit inside.

Betty Crocker has eaten there!

After breakfast we went to Antelope Island.  The park's Great Salt Lake is the second saltiest body of water on earth, behind the Dead Sea, so you can float on the water.  Because the water is so salty, the only organisms that can survive in it are brine shrimp and brine flies and they cover the shoreline and water.  We were shocked when we got to the lake.  They were everywhere!  Jay and I thought it was pretty gross but the girls didn't say a word...I guess they really wanted to swim.

It's hard to see but the brine flies are all of those little black dots.  You would never be able to sit on a towel by the shore.

The views were nice but the lake wasn't a great place to swim.  We packed up and started heading towards Wyoming.
